Eagle Lake 2008

Well, so far the 2008 Eagle Lake season is going well. As of today, I've caught 40 fish this season, averaging 3 pounds or so with a few in the high 4's (haven't been able to quite break 5 yet). I haven't gotten any great photos but here's a couple of "bar-b-quers" that Ernie took home one day after we caught 14 fish between us...

Just your basic little 8 1/2 pound, 2 fish limit.

Bucks Lake '08

Here are some shots from Bucks Lake in June of 2008:

Heading out...

Jimmy Fighting the big ones.....

Jimmy with his first Mackinaws...

Headin' back to camp after a successful day on the water....

Jimmy also got a decent number of small kokanees. Aside from the smoke (there were numerous forest fires surrounding the area), it was a great long weekend!

Sacramento River Rainbows

Just a few shots of some rainbows I caught on the evening of September 2, 2007. I was fishing just below Keswick Dam in the last hour or 2 before dark throwing spoons. I was fishing alone so getting good photos was difficult.

Shotoverin 2

I took Jimmy back up to Shotoverin Lake on July 14.

We caught one nice little trout....

As usual, the catfish were biting nicely...

There was only one other fisherman on the lake that day...

I almost got a decent photo of him plying his trade. He was just too far away (and too darn quick) for me and my equipment...

Back to catfishin'....

All in all, it was a great afternoon!

Fish Fear Jimmy Too

A couple weeks ago Jimmy went out with Grandpa Ernie and chased salmon on Shasta Lake.

Jimmy had to make sure the downriggers were in order....

They picked up one good fish....

I'd say this fish was in the 3 pound class judging from the photo.....

Actually we got 2 fish--the one pictured was just over 3 lbs--the second was as long but not as heavy--Mom just didn't take any pictures--she was slacking!

Columbia River Sturgeon

On June 22 and 23, 2006 I took a little trip up to the Columbia River to chase white sturgeon. I was in the company of my father-in-law, Ernie Nachreiner and his best friend, Bob Whalley for both days. Joining us on Thursday was Ernie's brother-in-law, Larry Gerritsen and joining us on Friday was my wife Laura's uncle, Gene Willyard.

We had a blast! Rather than trying to post all the content in one blog post, I thought I'd just use this post as sort of a portal to a web gallery I'm setting up.

Eric's Tennessee Brown Trout

My buddy Eric has been doing pretty good lately on the South Holsten River Tailwater, below the wier dam near Bluff City Tennessee. Here are some browns he picked up recently on a fly rod and a #22 black midge pupa......

As the only one in the blog who has picked up a rod in the last 6 months, I am proud to say that, once again, for the second year in a row, I am ahead of Mike's quality and quantity of fish for the year. Fish can't Fear someone who never fishes...lol Nice work on the page mike...if I find it on fishsniffer you'll be needing four new tires for your truck...lmao

I pick up a rod at least 5 times per week (or in your case; weak). Someday I'll actually go fishing again too.

PS: The fish SNIFFER has no interest in sniffing a hideous, disgusting squawfish.

I should've been more specific when I said rod....I meant YOUR OWN.....

Carly loved fishing at an early age!!!

I was just doing a little hard drive cleaning and came across this nearly forgotten gem of a fishing photo. This was taken a few years back (fall of '96 or '97, I'm guessing). I had Carly hold on to a small salmon I caught on the Sacramento River. As you can see, she was more than happy to oblige!!!

you want to know something strangely ironic? recently, like yesterday or the day before, i was searching through a bunch of pictures for ideas of what to draw in my art class, and i just so happened to stumble upon this same picture on the computer. i didnt choose it, but it made me laugh a little.
